A few simple Spring kitchen decorating ideas for adding a seasonal touch to the space that won’t interfere with the kitchen’s functionality.

The common saying regarding homes is that “the kitchen is the heart of the home.” With the popularity of open concepts homes, that couldn’t be more true. Our kitchens are often on full display to the whole home. Adding a few decorative touches that coordinate with the rest of your home decor helps your kitchen flow with your space. If you decorate seasonally, consider adding a few seasonal touches to the kitchen as well.

Simple Spring Kitchen Decorating Ideas

Decorating the Kitchen Island for Spring

My kitchen island is my prep space. I make all of our breakfasts and lunches there. It’s also where I drop groceries or take out bags when I walk in the door. Because I use our island so frequently, I don’t like to add a lot of decor to it. I keep the decorations on our island minimal and contained. The best way to do this is to use a tray or pedestal.

Center the tray or pedestal in the middle of the island, then fill in the space with a few fun decorative pieces. For my Spring decorations, I styled the pedestal tray from the Spring 2022 Decocrated box. The pedestal elevates the decor, but is small and simple to move around if I need more space. On the tray are a glass vase with faux florals, two ceramic birds, a framed Spring print, and decorative beads.

The glass vase is also from the Spring 2022 Decocrated box. I love the small size of the vase and the shape. The top is almost like a flower the way it opens outward. Inside the vase are some faux florals. The white flowers are leftover from when I made my Spring ribbon wreath. The faux lamb’s ear is also from Decocrated. I love faux florals because I don’t worry about them dying or refilling the water. Plus, they are simple to style.

The ceramic birds add a fun, whimsical touch to the tray. The little bluebird is also from Decocrated. The white bird was in my personal home decor collection. I believe I bought it from At Home, but it was years ago. I love that they don’t match. Both birds complement the other decorations and each other, but they aren’t a perfect pair.

The Spring print contains various shades of pink, blue, and tan, which ties all of the decorations together. The print coordinates with the rest of the decorations because it’s also from the Decocrated Spring 2022 collection. Sometimes decorations need a bit of art to tie them together. The blue wood beads also help tie the whole display together. The blue compliments the bird and the print. Plus, since the beads are along the bottom of the tray, they anchor the decor.

Styling Kitchen Open Shelves for Spring

One of my favorite things about our kitchen, aside from the giant opening into the dining room, is the open shelves. The shelves are a great place to display seasonal home decor. They are small, so they don’t require much decoration. This also keeps them easy to clean!

On the top shelf is a framed print that says “There may be no thing greater than a life well loved.” I love this quote and it feels so appropriate for Spring. To me, Spring is a time of new beginnings and growth. Life is full of possibilities and adventure as the weather warms up. I always love life a bit more in the Spring and Summer.

The middle shelf houses a cylinder vase full of faux Easter eggs. I bought these eggs at Target at least 5 years ago. The colors are perfect for any Spring decorations or color palette. I paired the vase of eggs with a small blue bottle and a little wooden fox. The blue bottle was a thrifted find many years ago. The fox was part of the Decocrated Winter 2021 collection. Since the details painted on the fox include leaves, it seemed fitting for Spring.

Finally, the bottom shelf houses a wooden egg painted white with blue and pink flowers. Behind the egg is a gold mercury glass-style votive on a cupcake stand with blue beads wrapped around it. The beads tie the candle in with the egg. While the cupcake stand just adds a bit of height to the votive. The added height balances the different elements of the display. Both the egg and the beads are from Decocrated. The egg is part of the special Easter 2022 collection. The votive and cupcake stand are both old Target finds.

Decorating a Spring Kitchen Hutch or Bar

Since I prefer to keep my counters clear, my bar cabinet is where I display a lot of home decor. It’s almost like a makeshift mantle. My giant plate display wall is the perfect backdrop for Spring decorations too! For this display, I purchased some fresh flowers at the grocery store. Alstroemeria is my favorite home decor flower because they last for a very long time. I added a few fresh eucalyptus stems to the vase just to fill in the flowers a bit more. Greenery stems are the best way to fill out a vase of flowers. They add different textures, colors, and heights to a floral arrangement.

Along with the flowers, I decorated the top of the bar cabinet with a bunny figurine and a purple candle. The bunny is also from the Decocrated Easter box. The faux books stacked in the middle of the bar are another Decocrated item. I added a few tiny faux flowers to the top, just for a little Spring touch. Above the books, I hung a fun bunny-themed sign. The sign is also from Decocrated. I love how perfectly it hangs over the front of the plate!

On the left side of the bar is a metal lantern. An empty lantern is an excellent piece for styling home decor. Decor layered inside a lantern is visually appealing, while also corralled. I layered a framed botanical print, pink candle, and faux succulent inside this lantern. Both the lantern and print are also from Decocrated. The candle and succulent are very old Target finds. The front section of Target always has excellent decorative pieces. They are small, easy to store, and inexpensive. Perfect for seasonal decor!

These simple spring kitchen decorating ideas are excellent for adding a few seasonal touches to your home. We spend so much time in our kitchen, so it’s important that it’s a beautiful space. My spring decorating ideas don’t interfere with the functionality of the kitchen. Instead, they complement the beautiful areas of the room.
