A combination of zesty lime, blanco tequila, and rose syrup, this Rose Margarita is the perfect floral cocktail for spring!

Floral cocktails are an excellent drink for spring celebrations or afternoons in the sun. This rose margarita is a fun spin on the classic cocktail. It’s made with fresh lime juice, earthy tequila, and the sweet flavors of fresh roses. This is the perfect drink for a spring garden party, Easter luncheon, or special occasion happy hour.
Rose Margarita Ingredients
- Tequila – Silver tequila, also called blanco tequila, is the best tequila for this margarita. This clear tequila has a less complex flavor than reposado tequila, so it doesn’t mask the flavors of the ingredients. It also doesn’t change the color of the cocktail.
- Triple Sec – Orange liqueur, like Triple Sec, Grand Marnier, or Cointreau, adds a bit of sweetness and citrus flavor to a margarita.
- Lime Juice – The key flavor component to a margarita is fresh lime juice. It adds a little zestiness and acidity to the drink.
- Rose Syrup – This floral syrup gives the margarita its signature rose flavor. Make homemade rose syrup using food-grade dried roses, or purchase premade rose syrup. You can find rose syrup online. World Market also sells Torani Rose Syrup in-store.

Homemade Rose Syrup
Simple syrup is one of the best ingredients for adding sweetness to a cocktail. If you can stir, then you can make this cocktail syrup!
- Add 1 cup of water, 1/2 cup of food-grade dried rose petals or rose buds, and 1 cup of sugar to a small saucepan.
- Heat the saucepan on medium-low heat. It does not need to boil!
- Continuously stir the water-sugar mixture until all of the sugar dissolves. Let the syrup cool for an hour.
- Strain into a glass mason jar with a tight-fitting lid and store in the fridge.
- Rose syrup lasts for 4 weeks in the refrigerator!
How to Make a Rose Margarita
This spin on a classic margarita is the perfect cocktail for this time of year. The floral flavor is like sipping a fresh spring garden.
Step 1 – Combine tequila, triple sec, lime juice, and rose syrup in a cocktail shaker.
Step 2 – Add a handful of ice cubes to the shaker. Then, firmly place the lid on the cocktail shaker. Shake for 30 seconds to combine the cocktail ingredients and chill them.
Step 4 – Strain the cocktail into a margarita glass or a cocktail glass over ice. Garnish with food-safe rose petals, a lime wedge, or a salt rim.
Elevate this cocktail with rose ice cubes. Fill a large silicone ice cube tray three-quarters full with water. Place 6-10 rose buds or petals over the water. Freeze for 24 hours. Place the floral cubes in the cocktail glass using small food tongs.

What Type of Glass Do I Use?
- Margarita Glass – Margarita glasses are a great option for this cocktail. They have a stem and a wide mouth. Hold a margarita glass by the stem so the warmth of your hands doesn’t heat the drink.
- Short Tumbler – Not everyone has a set of margarita glasses at home. So a short tumbler or rocks glass is also great for a margarita, especially if you’re serving it over ice.
Can I Batch This Cocktail?
Absolutely! This floral rose margarita cocktail is great for batching! Multiply the recipe in the recipe card below by the number of guests you have.

For example, a batch for 8 people would require 12 ounces of tequila, 8 ounces of triple sec, 6 ounces of lime juice, and 6 ounces of rose syrup. Serve the batch margaritas in a large pitcher with a half cup of ice. The ice adds dilution to the batch cocktail. Dilution usually comes from shaking the drink in a shaker, so this makes up for that step.
