Take a trip to the hardware store to make these fun upcycled Christmas ornaments! Flat washers glued together make adorable snowflakes!
I decided to jump the gun on Christmas and make some ornaments for my Random Acts of Craftiness Challenge project.
This month’s challenge was to raid the hardware store and create something original. I decided to use some flat washers to create upcycled Christmas ornaments.
I started with 2 packs of washers (different sizes) and arranged them into patterns I liked on a few pieces of wax paper, all while drinking wine and watching the end of season 2 of Downton Abbey.
After I had a few patterns that I liked I super glued the washers together.
Before they were dry I also sprinkled some glitter on them because I love the way glittery ornaments shimmer on the tree. Be careful not to get glue and glitter on your fingers. I may or may not have sparkle fingers right now…
Once everything was dry I peeled off the wax paper, attached some string and VIOLA!
I’m actually quite pleased with how these came out and may make a few more to decorate our tree (which will be after Thanksgiving. Boo!)
I feel like I’m on challenge overload over here! There was the Pinterest Challenge yesterday and this one today. Did anyone else participate in both? What’d you make!
Check out my other Christmas ornaments crafts, like chalkboard ornaments and 6 different glass ball ideas.
I am so excited for Christmas too!!!! What a great idea to make decorations – and I love it that you added glitter! Sparkle is always better at Christmastime.
Those are too cute! Stopping by from His and Her’s blog. Megan
how clever! I especially love the blue one 🙂 We should really start making some personal ornaments for our tree too, hmm…
Love these! I’m super pumped for Christmas this year! I can’t wait to start crafting! Your ornaments are very festive!
Nice job on the ornaments!
Very creative! Love the sparkle you added with the glitter too!
Great job. They will be beautiful on your tree.
Downton Abbey rocks my world! I’m having a hard time waiting for the new season in January…
I think I will try your washer glitter art to make snowflakes for my front door instead of a wreath this year. Thanks for the idea!
Omigosh! SO cute! They are perfectly festive for Christmas and I love that you added some bling. Great project!!
Really cute and a great idea! I would have never thought to do that with washers.
Very creative! Turned out so cute!
Ohmygosh! So unique! Love this! They remind me a little of those bubble statement necklaces that seem to be so popular right now!
The glitter totally makes them. I think maybe I need one of these on my christmas tree…..
Love the added sparkle of the glitter!! I hear ya on the challenge over load! I have a Canada post for Friday too so I’m in a series overload. Looking forward to posting whatever I want next week. haha.
Woohoo for a head start on Christmas! (I can’t believe how close it is.) The washers make perfect little pieces for snowflakes. And glitter is always good. 🙂
Thanks for linking up even though you are in challenge overload!!
This one is always a blast! I couldn’t resist! 😉
these came out so funky and cute! love them!
I would never have looked at washers and seen ornaments, but I totally want to make some now 😉
I actually think I’m going to make more because I wasn’t expecting them to look good haha!
No Way! What a brilliant craft…using hardware supplies. I love your ornaments. They look great.
I made a Christmas ornament with washers too….too funny. Last time we both used chess pieces 😉 I love the glitter on yours!
We must have ESP or something! Haha!
Very original and creative! I was totally hoping to make something before I left for vacation and just didn’t make it … I found an old rusty chain, too. Might need to do something anyway. 🙂
I know you’ll come up with something really good! You’re so creative!
Cute idea! I love the added sparkle. Who’d have thought that hardware and glitter could make such a pretty pair?
Thank you! 🙂
Everything is better with glitter on it!! Love them
I love that you did something for the upcoming holidays! I couldn’t take part in anything…we were sitting in the dark haha.
Very cute! My only question though…are they too heavy on your tree?
