Every Star Wars Movie and Show on Disney Plus

Disney Plus is the home to almost every piece of Star Wars content available for streaming. This is a list of every Movie and Show from Star Wars on Disney Plus. It includes the 1970s classics, animated series, and the 2020s Disney Plus original series.

Disney bought LucasFilm in 2012 and became the caretakers of the Star Wars brand and franchise. Since then Disney created a Star Wars area in their theme parks, a holiday (May the 4th), 5 new films, an animated series, and 7 original live-action Disney Plus series. Some projects are more popular than others, but all are part of the legacy of Star Wars on Disney Plus.

Whether you’re just getting into Star Wars and want to know where to start, or you’re a lifelong fan that wants to rewatch your favorites, this list has something for everyone! Families will love watching animated series like Young Jedi Adventures or the LEGO Star Wars specials, while adults will love award-winning series like The Mandalorian and Andor.

Star Wars Movies on Disney Plus

The Original Trilogy

The Original Star Wars Trilogy started in 1977 with Episode IV. Creator George Lucas dreamed of developing a fantasy space opera after the success of his coming-of-age film American Graffiti. He struggled to get a studio on board for his idea, before Twentieth Century Fox finally signed off on the project. Lucas directed the first Star Wars movie, while Episode V was directed by Irvin Kershner and Richard Marquand directed Episode VI.

Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope (1977)

The first Star Wars film tells the story of Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), a young farmer on an isolated planet who dreams of attending flight school and becoming a pilot. Two droids appear on the farm and lead Luke on an adventure where he meets a Jedi named Ben Kenobi (Alec Guinness), a smuggler named Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and his Wookiee copilot Chewbacca, and rescues Princess Leia (Carrie Fischer) from the evil Empire.

Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back (1980)

Infuriated at the events of Episode V, Darth Vader (James Earl Jones) leads his forces in an attack on the Rebel base on Hoth. Skywalker and his friends separate as they flee the Empire. Luke seeks out the Jedi Master Yoda to complete his training, while Han, Chewbacca, Leia, and C-3PO hide out with an old friend of Han’s named Lando Calrissian (Billy Dee Williams). However, the Emperor and Vader have been scheming and set a trap for the friends.

Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi (1983)

Luke, Leia, Lando, Chewie, and the droids infiltrate the palace of gangster Jabba the Hutt to free Han Solo. They narrowly evade death on Tatooine, but manage to escape. Luke visits a dying Yoda and learns that he has a twin sister. Meanwhile, Han volunteers to lead an expedition to Endor to disable the field generator surrounding the new Death Star. The friends are captured by locals, Ewoks, who they recruit to help them. Luke leaves the group to confront Darth Vader and the Emperor (Ian McDiarmid).

The Prequel Trilogy

In 1999, 16 years after the release of the Return of the Jedi, George Lucas returned to the Star Wars universe to tell the story of Anakin Skywalker, Luke and Leia’s father. The Prequels feature many famous actors like Natalie Portman, Liam Neeson, Ewan McGregor, Samuel L. Jackson, and Christopher Lee. Lucas directed the entire prequel trilogy, which was met with mixed reactions from fans. Years later fans of embraced the prequels and their stars.

Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace (1999)

The Trade Federation launches an illegal occupation of the planet Naboo. Two Jedi, Master Qui Gon Jinn (Liam Neeson) and his apprentice Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) arrive to negotiate peace, but are met with an assassination attempt. The leader of Naboo, Queen Amidala (Natalie Portman), evades capture and leaves with the Jedi to plead her case before the Galactic Senate. On the way they meet a young slave boy named Anakin Skywalker (Jake Lloyd) who helps them acquire the parts they need and leaves with them for Coroscant where they are met with more opposition.

Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones (2002)

Ten years after the events of The Phantom Menace, the Republic faces more strife and turmoil. Padme Amidala, now a Senator for Naboo, returns to Coroscant where she is put under the protection of Jedi Master Kenobi and his apprentice Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen). Romantic tensions rise between Padme and Anakin, while Obi-Wan investigates the Separatist Movement and Count Dooku (Christopher Lee), a former Jedi. The events lead to the Republic acquiring an army of clones and starting a war against the Separatists.

Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (2005)

Anakin and Padme continue to hide their marriage from everyone around them. Padme tells Anakin she is pregnant which leads to nightmares of Padme’s death. Desperate to save her Anakin allows himself to be manipulated by Chancellor Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) and become Darth Vader.

The Sequel Trilogy

In 2012, Disney acquired Lucasfilm, and thus Star Wars. Lucas stepped down as president of Lucasfilm and gave the position to Kathleen Kennedy. In 2015, Star Wars released the first film of the sequel trilogy, 13 years after the release of Revenge of the Sith. This trilogy was the first series of movies written and directed without George Lucas.

Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens (2015)

This seventh film was written and directed by J.J. Abrams. It introduces a new hero, Rey (Daisy Ridley) an orphaned girl on an isolated planet. She teams up with a Storm Trooper defector named Finn to leave the planet and return a droid to the Resistance. They team up with Han Solo, Chewbacca, and pilot Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) to help General Leia and the Resistance in their fight against Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) and the evil First Order.

Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi (2017)

Rey sets out to find the former Jedi Master Luke Skywalker, but instead she finds a grumpy hermit who wants nothing to do with the Jedi anymore. She must convince Skywalker to return and help his sister and the Resistance. She also must face Kylo Ren again. Meanwhile, Poe and Finn, along with their new friend Rose (Kelly Marie Tran), must help the Resistance escape from the New Order in a chase through space.

Star Wars IX: The Rise of Skywalker (2019)

Rey and her friends must find a way to stop the New Order and the return of Emperor Palpatine. They search for a lost ship and Sith Holocron which contains information about Palpatine’s location. Along the way they find Lando Calrissian, who helps them rally the Rebels and Resistance fighters from across the galaxy. Rey and Kylo Ren also explore what being a diad in the Force means for their futures.

Movies Not Apart of the Trilogies

Between the releases of the sequel trilogy movies, Disney also released two movies that told additional Star Wars stories.

Rogue One

This film introduced a new cast of characters that were not directly part of the previous trilogies. It takes place directly before Episode IV: A New Hope and tells the story of the spies who acquired the plans to the original Death Star. The story is about Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) a young woman who’s father (Mads Mikkelsen) was kidnapped by the Empire to build the Death Star. The Rebels send a spy (Diego Luna) to find Jyn in hopes that she can find her father before the Death Star is fully operational.

Solo

This movie tells the origin story of Han Solo, played by Alden Ehrenreich. It starts with Solo living the life of thief on Corellia with his romantic interest Qi’ra (Emilia Clarke). He is recruited by a team of gangsters led by Tobias Beckett (Woody Harrelson) and along the way meets Chewbacca and Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover) and also acquires the Millennium Falcon.

Star Wars Vintage Movies on Disney Plus

Following the conclusion of the Original Trilogy in 1983, Lucas helped develop a television movie about the Ewoks. The movie and it’s sequel premiered on ABC and were not part of the original films.

Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure

This film, starring Warwick Davis as the Ewok Wicket, is about the Towani family who are marooned on the moon of Endor when their starcruiser crashes. The children are taken in by the Ewoks after their parents are captured by the Gorax. The Ewoks embark on a journey to reunite the family and battle the fearsome Gorax.

Ewoks: The Battle for Endor

Six months after the events of the first film, the Towani family is almost finished repairing their starcruiser. However, Marauders attack the family and Ewoks killing everyone but the daughter Cindel and Wicket. The two set out into Endor where they find refuge with a human hermit and Teek, a creature native to Endor’s moon. The Marauders send their witch to find the girl who they believe to have special magical knowledge.

Star Wars Shows on Disney Plus

In addition to the epic movies, which changed cinema and the world, Star Wars also produces television series. These series date back to the 1980s, but it the demand for more Star Wars television content picked up steam in the 2000s. Star Wars television series was all animation until 2019 and the launch of Disney Plus.

Live-Action Disney Plus Original Shows

Live-action Star Wars played a pivotal role in the launch of Disney Plus. The first ever live-action Star Wars series, The Mandalorian, was the flagship series that premiered alongside the launch of Disney Plus. Many of the live-action series weave together to create a separate storyline, sometimes called “The Mandoverse.”

The Mandalorian

Following the fall of the Empire in Episode VI, The Mandalorian follows a bounty hunter, Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal), through the galaxy where he finds an unlikely partner. The series drew Star Wars fans in due to the familiar Mandalorian armor, reminding fans of Boba Fett, and Baby Yoda (his real name is Grogu). There are currently three seasons of the series on Disney Plus and a full-length feature film starring Din Djarin and Grogu will hit theaters in 2026.

Andor

Fans fell in love with Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) in Rouge One, so much so that Star Wars created a series for the character. The show tells Cassian’s origin story and sets up his character’s arch in Rogue One. It is a little darker and more mature than other Star Wars projects. The series was a huge hit and was nominated for three Emmy awards following its release.

The Book of Boba Fett

Boba Fett is one of the most beloved characters in the Star Wars franchise, which is incredible considering that he has less than 10 minutes of screen time in the original trilogy. The love of Boba Fett, and excitement over seeing him again in The Mandalorian, led to a series on Disney Plus. The series follows him post-Mandalorian as he sets up in Jabba the Hutt’s old palace and takes on spice smugglers operating on Tatooine. Boba Fett is played by Temuera Morrison, who portrayed Boba’s father, Jango Fett, in the Prequels.

Obi-Wan Kenobi

Another beloved Star Wars character, Obi-Wan Kenobi, received a spin-off Disney Plus series as well. Ewan McGregor reprised his role for the television series which acts as a bridge for the character between his last appearance in Epsiode III and first appearance (played by Alec Guinness) in Episode IV. Obi-Wan is hiding on Tatooine and cuts himself off completely from the Force because he blames himself for Anakin’s downfall. An old friend reaches out to him for help, where we meet a child-version of Princess Leia. Hayden Christiansen also returns as Darth Vader in the series.

Ahsoka

Dave Filoni created the character of Ahsoka Tano for the animated Clone Wars series. She grew in popularity and quickly became a fan favorite character. She is Anakin’s former apprentice who walked away from the Jedi Order after a scandal. She’s no longer a Jedi, but is still a powerful Force user and ally of the Rebellion. Her series is more of a sequel to the animated series Rebels, which Ahsoka appeared in quite often. She and members of the Rebels team embark on a mission to save one of their own and prevent the return of Grand Admiral Thrawn. Rosario Dawson plays Ahsoka in this live-action series. A second season of the series is in development and should release in 2026 or 2027.

The Acolyte

Star Wars opted to explore a different timeline in this original series. The Acolyte takes place 100 years before Episode I, in the High Republic Era. This era is the setting for the current Star Wars book series, The High Republic. It’s a fun way to explore a new storyline and new characters in a familiar universe. The show follows Jedi Master Sol, played by Lee Jung-Jai (Squid Games), as he investigates the deaths of several Jedi Masters. At the center of the mystery are twin girls, Osha and Mae, who have a unique connection to the Force and to Sol.

Skeleton Crew

If you’ve ever wondered what The Goonies mixed with Treasure Island and Star Wars would look like, it’s Skeleton Crew. This fun series follows four children from a mysterious planet as they accidentally leave their home and get lost in the galaxy. The children find a mysterious man named Jod Nanawood (Jude Law) who swears to take them home, but the kids aren’t sure they can trust him. This fun series takes place after Episode VI, but doesn’t feature characters from any other Star Wars projects.

Animated Disney Plus Original Shows

The history of Star Wars animation truly begins with Dave Filoni. George Lucas hired the animation storyboard artist/assistant director in 2005 to help him expand the Star Wars story through an animated series. Filoni worked under Lucas to create the animated series, The Clone Wars, which secured him a place at Lucasfilm as Lucas’ apprentice, so to speak. He stayed with Lucasfilm following the sale to Disney and George Lucas’ departure and is now the Chief Creative Officer.

The Clone Wars

After working for nearly three years on the series with George Lucas Filoni’s Clone Wars animated series premiered in 2008. The series bridges the gap between Episodes II and III, also known as The Clone Wars. It follows familiar characters like Anakin Skywalker, Padme Amidala, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Yoda as they grapple with the rise of the Separatist movement and the challenges of maintaining the Republic. The series also introduced popular characters like Ahsoka Tano, Captain Rex, Hondo Ohnaka, and more. The series ran for 7 seasons, but only season 7 is technically a “Disney Plus Original.” But that’s close enough, so it makes this list. ;)

The Bad Batch

This series is a spin-off of The Clone Wars, starring the clones from Clone Force 99, also called “The Bad Batch.” This group of clones has genetic mutations that make them look and act differently from other clones. In the series, this squad is able to resist Order 66, which leads to a series of adventures through the galaxy. The show explores the implementation of Stormtroopers instead of Clones and a secret clone project that leads to the events in the sequel trilogy.

Tales of the Jedi

This series of animated shorts gives glimpses into the lives of notable Star Wars figures Ahsoka Tano and Count Dooku. Several stories follow Ahsoka’s birth and discovery by the Jedi and, later, her relationship with her Jedi Master, Anakin Skywalker. The Count Dooku shorts depict him before his fall to the Dark Side when he was Jedi Master to a young Qui-Gon Jinn.

Tales of the Empire

Another animated series of shorts that gives more insight into a few popular characters. The first is Nightsister Morgan Elsbeth, who is a leading antagonist in the Ahsoka series. These shorts tell Morgan’s origin story and fill in the blanks between that and her first appearance in the second season of The Mandalorian. The other character featured in these shorts is Barriss Offee, a former Jedi Apprentice turned Inquisitor.

Star Wars Visions

This unique series features several short stories, not related to the main Star Wars Universe, made by anime animation studios around the world. Lovers of Star Wars and anime will enjoy this original series.

Young Jedi Adventures

I was so happy when Star Wars released a program for young children! This Disney Jr. series follows a group of Younglings training to be Jedi at a temple on Tenoo during the High Republic Era. The young Jedi, Kai, Lys, and Nubs, train under Jedi Master Zia, but Yoda also makes special appearances. If you have young kids that are perhaps too young for regular Star Wars, try this series!

Animated Star Wars Series on Disney Plus

These animated series came out before the Disney acquisition, but unlike The Clone Wars, none of the seasons were made for Disney Plus. Two of the series were created by Dave Filoni, and the other two are Lego Star Wars projects. Lego was first licensed with Star Wars in 1998 to create Lego sets, but expanded to video games, books, movies, and television series. The first animated Lego Star Wars short film premiered in 2005, with a full series following in later years.

Rebels

This animated series premiered in 2014 on Disney Channel. It takes place between Episode III and Episode IV and follows the crew of “The Ghost” as they aid the Rebellion. The crew is made up of the pilot Hera Syndulla, a former Jedi Apprentice named Kanan Jarrus, a sassy robot named Chopper, a Mandalorian named Sabine Wren, and their sarcastic crewmember Zeb. The crew accidently picks up a Force-sensitive boy named Ezra Bridger, who later becomes Kanan’s apprentice. This is one of my all-time favorite Star Wars shows about a found family and thrilling adventures.

Resistance

An animated series that takes place during the New Republic Era, before and during the events of the Sequel trilogy. It’s about a young pilot named Kazuda Xiono who is recruited by the Resistance to spy on the growing First Order. The 2 season series features a few appearances of Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) from the Sequel movies.

Droid Tales

This Lego Star Wars animated mini-series is a fun retelling of the Star Wars saga, starting with The Phantom Menace and ending with Return of the Jedi, told from the perspectives of R2-D2 and C-3PO.

All-Stars

An animated Lego Star Wars series that introduces new characters and some familiar faces in exciting adventures. The show features Lego versions of the characters from Solo, like Han, Chewie, and Lando Calrissian, and characters from the Sequel Trilogy, like Kylo Ren, BB-8, and General Organa.

Animated Star Wars Vintage Series

Droids

In 1985, there was an animated spin-off series starring C-3PO and R2-D2 called Droids. The 13-episode series follows the two droids as they are traded from master to master until they end up with Captain Antilles just before the events of Episode IV. Anthony Daniels even reprised his role as the voice of C-3PO for the series.

Ewoks

This 2 season animated series premiered around the same time as Droids in 1985. The series takes place before the events of Return of the Jedi, but stars familiar Ewok characters like Wicket. Characters from Caravan of Courage also star in the series, like Deej, Widdle, and Weechee. The show ended in 1986 after two seasons.

Rebuild the Galaxy

LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy is a 4 part mini series that released on Disney Plus in 2024. It follows a young boy named Sig Greebling (Gaten Matarazzo) who finds an ancient artifact that swaps heroes and villains within the Star Wars Universe. Fan-fiction favorites like Sith Rey, Darth Jar Jar, and Jedi Bob (Bobby Moynihan) make appearances. A second season is due to release Fall 2025.

Animated Star Wars Movies and Specials on Disney Plus

Summer Vacation

A LEGO Star Wars animated special where Finn arranges for his friends, Rey, Poe, R2-D2, C-3PO, Chewie, Rose, and BB-8 to go on vacation together aboard the starcruiser, Halcyon. While on the ship, Finn encounters Force Ghosts of Obi-Wan, Leia, and Anakin Skywalker who tell him stories of vacations they took in the past. The starship is meant to be the same ship from the immersive Disney hotel Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser at the Walt Disney World Resort, which closed permanately in Fall 2023.

Terrifying Tales

Another LEGO Star Wars animated special, but this one is perfect for Halloween! Poe and BB-8 visit Vader’s old castle on Mustafar, which is being turned into a resort. The castle’s caretaker tells Poe and his friends scary stories of famous Sith, like Darth Maul and Kylo Ren and an alternate version of A New Hope.

Holiday Special

In this LEGO animated special Rey and all of her friends are on Kashyyyk to celebrate Life Day with the Wookiees. Rey and BB-8 leave to find a key that allows them to time travel to Life Days in the past. The time traveling results in a bit of trouble beyond space and time. It is fun to see Life Day, from the infamous holiday special in 1978, in a modern story.

The New Yoda Chronicles: Escape from the Jedi Temple

The New Yoda Chronicles is an animated LEGO Star Wars mini series. The first 3 episodes are not on Disney Plus, but the last 5 are. In Escape from the Jedi Temple, Yoda and Force Ghost Obi Wan decide to extend Luke’s training and show him one of the last Jedi holocrons.

The New Yoda Chronicles: Race for the Holocrons

Luke is sent home to Tatooine to find hidden holocrons before Darth Vader does.

The New Yoda Chronicles: Raid on Coruscant

The Emperor uses the information from found holocrons to attach planets sympathetic to the Rebellion, so Luke sets up a raid on Coruscant to get them back.

The New Yoda Chronicles: Clash of the Skywalkers

Angry that the holocrons were destroyed, the Emperor sends Vader to destroy Luke Skywalker, but Luke has his own tricky plan.

The New Yoda Chronicles: Duel of the Skywalkers

This is an alternate-ending version of Clash of the Skywalkers where Luke fakes his death and travels to Mustafar where he accidentally opens a holocron.

Animated Shorts

Zen – Grogu and the Dust Bunnies

An animated short produced by Studio Ghibli where Grogu is followed around by a group of dust bunnies.

Rebels Shorts

Four fun 3-minute shorts about a few members of the Ghost crew. “The Machine in the Ghost” focuses on Chopper, “Art Attack” stars Sabine, “Entanglement” is about Zeb, and Ezra is the star of “Property of Ezra Bridger.”

Forces of Destiny

There were two seasons, each with 16 episodes, of the Forces of Destiny shorts. The animated shorts focus on untold stories about the heroines of Star Wars including, Rey, Leia, Ahsoka Tano, Padme, Sabine Wren, Jyn Erso, and Hera Syndulla. The shorts were part of a 2017 Hasbro expansion to make new Star Wars toys, books, and other products. Unfortunately, it was not very successful, which I find to be a huge bummer because I bought all of the dolls and bedding associated with the series for my kids.

Blips

Short, less than 1-minute shorts starring BB-8 getting into mischeif, sometimes with R2-D2, Chewbacca, and the porgs. This was originally a YouTube series in 2017 that was brought over to Disney Plus.

Young Jedi Adventures Shorts

A series of 6 short stories that introduced the characters of the Disney Jr. series prior to the premiere in 2023. The second season of shorts premiered in 2024, before the full length second season of the show.

The Resistance Rises

Five LEGO Star Wars shorts about the characters of “The Force Awakens.” These stories are an unofficial prequel to the seventh Star Wars film.

The Freemaker Adventures Shorts

A LEGO Star Wars series about three siblings, Rowan, Kordi, and Zander Freemaker who become caught up in the conflict between the Empire and the Rebellion between “The Empire Strikes Back” and “Return of the Jedi.” The full Freemaker Adventures series is not on Disney Plus, just 5 of the shorts.

All-Stars Shorts

These LEGO animated shorts tell the story of Roger, a loveable battle droid. He finds himself in various situations involving Star Wars characters like Han Solo, Chewbacca, Chopper, and Ewoks.

The Story of the Faithful Wookiee (Vintage)

A 9-minute animated short from the 1978 Star Wars holiday special about Chewbacca working with Boba Fett to help his friends.

Clone Wars (Vintage)

In 2003, two years before George Lucas hired Dave Filoni to develop a Clone Wars series, Lucasfilm aired 3 seasons of animated shorts called Star Wars: Clone Wars on Cartoon Network. The series was meant to bridge the gap between Episodes II and III. However, Episode III was not yet finished, so many of the events in the animated shorts were not accurate to what was later depicted in the movie. Some were also changed in the later Clone Wars series made by Dave Filoni.

Star Wars Documentaries and Behind the Scenes

Empire of Dreams: The Story of the Star Wars Trilogy

The 2004 documentary about the creation of Star Wars. It starts with the beginning of George Lucas’ filmmaker career and follows through the production of the original trilogy, and the impact of the movies and sequels on the world.

Under the Helmet: The Legacy of Boba Fett

A documentary focused on the story of Boba Fett that came out before the Book of Boba Fett series. It talks about the origins of Boba Fett and his popularity despite his small amount of screentime in the original trilogy.

Gallery – Star Wars: The Mandalorian

This documentary is a deep-dive into the process of making “The Mandalorian.” It features roundtable discussions between Jon Favreau and the directors of the series like, Dave Filoni, Taika Waititi, and Bryce Dallas Howard. Discussions about the legacy of Star Wars, the new filmmaking technology used in the series, Ludwig Goransson’s score, and the casting of Pedro Pascal. Each season of “The Mandalorian” has a documentary. Season 1 features 8 short episodes on various topics, while seasons 2 and 3 each have one hour long documentary.

Obi-Wan Kenobi: A Jedi’s Return

A documentary that goes behind the scenes of the making of the Obi-Wan Kenobi series and celebrates the return of Ewan McGregor as the titular character.

Light & Magic

This documentary series tells the story of the motion picture visual effects company Industrial Light & Magic (ILM). It starts with the company’s founding by George Lucas in 1975 and follows its achievements through the early 2000s.

Gallery – Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett

Another behind-the-scenes documentary about the making of “The Book of Boba Fett.” It talks about new technology, practical effects, and reveals never-before-seen footage.

Galaxy of Sounds

This series of special shorts explores the world of Star Wars sounds. It shows scenes from the films without a score playing in the background so the audience focuses on the sounds of engines, ships whirring, lightsabers clashing, and alien noises. It’s similar to Disney’s Zenimation series, but with Star Wars.

Vehicle Flythroughs

Pretend you’re aboard the Millenium Falcon or an Imperial Star Destroyer in these short visual tours of the ships.
