How to Make a Tie Blanket Using Fleece

Learn how to make a tie blanket using two pieces of fleece fabric. The blanket can be any size, color, or pattern. And best of all?! It doesn’t require any sewing!

I’ve been a bit behind, but I really wanted to participate in Decor and the Dog, Newly Woodwards, Maybe Matilda and Two Twenty One‘s holiday linky party Dare to DIY, especially since these ladies are some of my favorite bloggers! This week’s challenge was Dare to Give Handmade, which is something I really used to do as a poor college student! One year I made some no-sew tie fleece blankets for my mother and for Jesse, they were a big hit so I want to share them with you today. It’s technically my first ever DIY project, so it’s definitely blog-worthy! ๐Ÿ˜‰

How To Make a Tie Blanket

The blanket was made with a few yards of fleece from Wal-Mart in two different patterns. I used a solid and a plaid pattern. I cut 5 inch strips all around the edges, making sure all of my strips lined up nicely. Then I tied them into double knots.ย

The blanket is super soft and warm and it keeps it’s shape after washing and drying.

If you’re looking for a thoughtful gift on a budget, this could be the way to go! Fleece really isn’t very expensive and the whole project only took me about an hour. Plus this really is the gift that keeps on giving, no one can have enough blankets!ย

Have you ever made a handmade gift for someone? What was it? I’m always looking for ideas!

  17. I love giving and getting homemade gifts…especially the older that I am getting. They mean so much more. With all the things I have attempted to make, I have NEVER tried to make a no sew blanket and now I want to. AND, I love the plaid print you picked. I am sure the year you made these, they were definitely appreciated.

  18. We have always made homemade gifts for people. I am so fortunate that Brawn can build most anything and this year is no different. He and his elves have a huge to do list.
