The Fox and the Hound

It’s been 35 years since I first saw The Fox and the Hound and I still can’t watch it without sobbing. Sometimes I skip right to the song “Goodbye May Seem Forever” and immediately burst into tears.

Up

The opening scene of Up should be enough to get the waterworks started. But the rest of the movie does a great job of ripping your heart out too.

Inside Out

Two words: Bing Bong. My husband actually refuses to rewatch Inside Out because it made him so upset.

Toy Story 3

The first time I ever saw my dad cry was watching Toy Story 3. This movie will destroy anyone that grew up watching Toy Story.

Onward

Onward is one of Pixar’s most underrated films. It’s a heartwarming adventure, but the entire premise is heartbreaking. And the ending is so bittersweet. Have the tissues ready!

Encanto

While Encanto is full of fun music and adventure, it’s also so sad. The Madrigal family overcomes so much heartache over the course of the film.

Coco

I love Coco, but I can’t watch it without crying. It’s such a beautiful story of love and forgiveness.

The Emperor’s New Groove

My sisters and I had The Emperor’s New Groove memorized growing up. “Pull the lever Kronk!” is a line I think about WAY too often. It’s always great for a laugh.

Flubber

The Flubber remake of 1997 is peak, Robin Williams. This movie is so much fun. It never fails to make me laugh.

Another favorite from growing up, George of the Jungle was a weekly watch in my house. Brendan Frasier is hilarious as George! And I love the narrator!

Enchanted

The star-studded cast of Amy Adams, Patrick Dempsey, and James Marsden. Enchanted is fun and funny! My favorite scene is where the New York critters are cleaning the apartment.

The Princess Diaries

The Princess Diaries has aged so well! When I want to watch something fun, I frequently find myself watching this movie. It’s Anne Hathaway’s best work!

Disney films are full of fantastic music and songs. These are a few of the most iconic musicals that are sure to have you singing along.

Newsies

An amazing Disney musical that will have you wanting to dance along! Newsies is based on the real Newsboy Strike of 1899 and stars a young Christian Bale as Jack Kelly.

Mary Poppins

Mary Poppins was my first favorite movie and it continues to be a favorite. The songs and dances just can’t be beaten.

Encanto

The music from Encanto was an instant favorite. They are fresh and fun! I love having dance parties while listening to Encanto with my kids.

Into the Woods

A fun musical that combines fairytales like Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel and Jack and the Beanstalk into one story that takes place in the woods. Into the Woods has an all-star cast that includes Meryl Streep, James Cordon, Anna Kendrick, Chris Pine, and more.

Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella (1997)

This fun Cinderella story is based on the live-theater version by Rodgers and Hammerstein. It is full of new songs that you won’t be able to get out of your head! This version stars the legendary Whitney Houston, pop sensation Brandy, and Bernadette Peters.

Frozen

Both Frozen and Frozen II are full of amazing songs that you just can’t help but sing along to. In fact, the Frozen Singalong is one of my favorite Disney World activities. But singing along to the movies is almost just as fun.

High School Musical

With three movies loaded with fantastic original songs, you can’t go wrong with High School Musical! I love watching this one with the kids and singing along!

Godmothered

This movie is set around the holidays, but I don’t think of it as strictly a holiday movie. It’s a film about remembering the magic and joy of family. Godmothered is perfect for a cozy night in.

Frozen

What’s more cozy than being warm inside and watching a movie about the cold? Plus, the focus of truly loving your family makes this movie a perfect comfort film.

The Mighty Ducks

I’m a sucker for underdog sports movies. They always leave me feeling happy! And The Mighty Ducks is one a classic movie with a lovable, underdog team of kids. I also love Mighty Ducks 2!

Ratatouille

When I think about being warm and cozy, I also think about good food. And good food is definitely a huge part of Ratatouille! Add in a little unexpected friendship and you’ve got a great comfort film.

Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey

What’s more adventurous than a movie about three pets that travel across the country to find their owners? Homeward Bound features the most lovable pets, voiced by amazing actors. Chance is the spunky dog voiced by Michael J. Foxx. Sassy is a sassy cat voiced by Sally Field. And Shadow is the loyal retriever that leads the pack.

Moana

Join Moana as she journeys across the sea to get a demi-god to help her take down a lava monster. If anything, this movie makes me want to take a beach vacation.

Pirates of the Caribbean

This instant Disney classic is full of fun pirate adventure. Pirates of the Caribbean is thrilling, funny and the perfect movie for an adventurous mood.

The Incredibles

A group of superheroes on a mission to rescue their family and take down a villain. It doesn’t get more adventurous than The Incredibles.

Onward

Onward is a fun, heartfelt movie about a magical quest. Anyone that’s into fantasy adventures is going to love this movie!

The Rescuers Down Under

This movie features one of the most adventurous places, Australia. Join Bernard and Bianca has they rescue a young boy and an endangered eagle in The Rescuers Down Under.

My Top 5 Disney Comfort Movies

Whenever I’m feeling sad, or just looking to escape into a movie for a bit, I turn to one of these movies. Partly for the music, partly for the story, and always for the feelings.

The Princess Diaries

This movie always takes me back to simpler times. I love watch Mia on her journey of self-discovery. Plus, seeing Julie Andrews and a blonde Mandy Moore is always fun for me.

Enchanted

This live-action fairytale had me hooked from the first time I saw it! I love the songs. And Amy Adams is the perfect real life princess.

Coco

This movie was an instant favorite for me. And it also goes to show that you can’t underestimate animated films! Coco is visually stunning, and the main song is beautiful. I love the twist in the story too!

Mary Poppins

Mary Poppins was my favorite movie growing up. And now it’s one of my kids’ favorites too. I can’t help but stop and watch it whenever it’s on. It always brings back happy memories for me.

Tarzan

I definitely consider Tarzan to be a little more of an adult animated movie, but it’s fantastic. The soundtrack for this movie is one of the best. Plus, the animation is stunning.

  1. This post made me so dang HAPPY. I love so many of these movies and I constantly have the desire to sit down and watch them. My recent go-to has been Encanto. But it’s definitely time for a rewatch of some of the others here. So much fun!

  2. So many of my favorites! The Princess Diaries, The Parent Trap and Cinderella are a few of my comfort faves! Up!, Coco, Mary Poppins and Wall-E are always fun to watch too. You can’t go wrong with the classics either – the original Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland and Beauty and the Beast are my all-time faves!

  3. I LOVED this post! It even reminded me of some of the Disney movies I love but haven’t seen in forever. I have to say, Coco is definitely up there for top favorite in my book. I also absolutely loved Soul!
