Things Are Getting Real

Like I told you guys on Friday, we met Kristen and Joe of Popcorn on the Stove this weekend! In case you needed proof, here it is! See, bloggy friends turned real life friends! Please excuse my slouching, I’m 5’7″ and have a hard time standing up straight in pictures with people shorter than me. Anywho, let’s talk about how this went. Kristen contacted me about some hotel recommendations for her and Joe a few months ago and I suggested we get together since they were going to be in town. At this point I was checking my e-mail every 5 minutes wondering if she was going to think I was a creeper. But she emailed me back and said that’d be fun. We sporadically emailed back and forth about it and finally set a date and time.

We had dinner at Nacho Mama’s, which I’ve posted about before, and things went great! Jesse and I were prepared for the worst, but as soon as we walked up to the table we stopped worrying. Kristen and Joe were great! We talked about everything from our jobs, to Europe, to the future, we didn’t even really talk about our blogs (which was totally my fallback plan if it got awkward). It went so well that we walked down the street and had dessert after dinner. We spent a total of 2 hours hanging out, but it definitely could have been longer (Jesse and I had to go to a friend’s birthday party and were already way late). We were both pleasantly surprised at how well the four of us hit things off and, to my surprise, Jesse agreed that when/if they come back to Richmond we’re totally inviting them over and hanging out more.

Who’s next for a visit to the River City?! We promise we aren’t creepers 😉 For more on Kristen and Joe’s trip to RVA visit their blog here.

  1. You would totally have to slouch in a picture with me. I’m 4’11” so even with heels I don’t come close to your height. I would love to visit Richmond some day but unfortunately don’t see it happening anytime soon. I’m glad y’all had fun. Let us know if y’all ever head down to Birmingham… I would love to meet some blogger friends in person.

  2. Joe and I had back up conversation planned, too, haha! We’re so glad we got to meet you two and we’re definitely planning to come back soon 🙂

  3. So glad you girls hit it off! It’s great to see bloggy friends turned real life friends!

  4. So glad it went well and there were no awkward moments! You never know how it’s going to go meeting up with people you’ve never met and spending time with them… you just hope they won’t think you’re weird (or that the other people aren’t weird, lol!)

  5. You are too funny! I would have never thought “creeper” of you! But I know what you mean…I met Steph from Pretty & Delectable, and I was thinking she’d think I was weird..I dunno, some insecurity issue I guess…but it was great! We got a chance to sit down and talk, and hang out…But it’s always weird to meet someone in real life huh?! We’ll be in Virginia Beach next year for a wedding, maybe we can meet up for a bit? Is that close by?
