Hello all! I don’t know what it is about the month of December, but I can’t seem to catch my breathe! I love the holiday season, but boy is it a busy one! I’m going to go ahead and blame it on Thanksgiving being so late this year, it really cut into my Christmas time! I have been working on a lot of fun Christmas-themed projects and will work on having those up for you this weekend, between Christmas parties, seeing The Hobbit, finishing up my shopping and working on a few more crafts.
I do have a few things to share with you guys today though! First, the Children’s Hospital here in Richmond are trying to spread some cheer this holiday season. They have a goal to reach 1200 acts of cheer by December 31st. If you’re interested in spreading some cheer, it’s simple you can either:
- Post on Facebook: Tell us in 6 words how you plan to #SpreadCheer this holiday season and post your message on Children’s Hospital of Richmond’s Facebook page using the #SpreadCheer hashtag.
- Text-to-donate: Text HEALTH to 50555 to donate $10 to help children in the hospital.
Other local Richmond bloggers are joining in to this “12 Days of Cheer” campaign, the most well-known being Young House Love who are currently redesigning a space at the Children’s Hospital to make it more cheerful and cozy for the holidays. For more information, visit the launch blog post for the campaign! My second thing to share is that a blogger you guys know (Me) has been selected to represent JoAnn Fabric and Crafts on my local news station for a crafting demonstration on Monday! I am excited and super nervous! I’ll share more details, and hopefully a clip for you guys to watch, next week. I’ve decided on a craft out of the 5 I have going on currently, but it’s a surprise until the demonstration airs! In the meantime this is what my kitchen table looks like: And the third thing I have to share with you guys are some pictures of our house all cozy for the holidays! I’ve been working late a lot this week, so it’s super dark when I get home, but it’s ok because I have some lights and decor to cheer me up. I will be doing a full home tour, inside and out, next week these are just a few teasers. 😉Our Christmas tree this year is our biggest yet, at almost 8 ft. tall! I had to stand on a ladder to decorate the top half! I also love how our tree gets bigger and more sentimental each year (more details on that to come!)You can find my tutorial, and trick for not burning off your finger tips, for this ruffled tree skirt here.
This year, much to Jesse’s dismay, I also decorated our tv stand with some lights and garland. During December there is always a Christmas movie or Christmas music playing on the tv.
There is over 100 ft. of garland inside our house this year, and 50 of it is dedicated to wrapping the banisters. This is definitely my favorite part of decorating this house for the holidays.I broke Jesse’s “No more than one tree” rule when I found this little guy for $10 on Black Friday. Who could say no?Usually I have the apothecary jar and garland on the dining room table, but since that is covered in craft supplies and Jesse’s study supplies for his finals I moved the festivities to the window. I like them better here though. 😉
I hope you all have an amazing weekend! Any fun plans? What is your favorite thing to decorate for Christmas?
