Looking for a gorgeous tropical cocktail? Try this Mermaid Water drink! It’s made with coconut rum, blue curacao, and pineapple juice.

Mermaid Water is a delicious tropical cocktail. It is a gorgeous blue-green color, like a mermaid’s tail. This fruity rum punch combines pineapple juice, lime juice, and coconut rum for a refreshing tropical flavor. A splash of blue curacao gives it a beautiful teal color when combined with yellow pineapple juice.

Mermaid Water is the perfect cocktail for a beautiful sunny day. Or when you just wish you were exploring tropical islands on vacation.

What is Mermaid Water?

Mermaid Water is a rum punch cocktail. It contains spiced rum, coconut rum, and blue curacao. The cocktail is sweet because it also contains pineapple juice. Mermaid Water gets its name from the beautiful green-blue color of the cocktail. The color looks kind of like a mermaid tail. It comes from combining the yellow of the pineapple juice and the blue curacao.

Ingredients for Mermaid Water

  • Pineapple Juice – This sweet and tart juice is perfect for this tropical drink.
  • Spiced Rum – This spirit is made with dark rum and infused with additional spices like vanilla, ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon, and allspice. For this recipe, I used Captain Morgan Spiced Rum.
  • Coconut Rum – This delicious coconut-flavored liqueur is made with white rum and coconut. It’s the ideal spirit for tropical cocktails due to the strong coconut flavor. Malibu Rum is a popular brand, but many silver rum brands make a variation of coconut-flavored rum.
  • Blue Curaçao  – Blue Curacao is a liquor made from the dried peel of the Lahara citrus fruit. It has a similar flavor to triple sec, which is made with orange peel. The liquor is dyed a vibrant blue color. Its color makes it a very popular cocktail ingredient because it makes for a prettier drink.
  • Lime Juice – Add acidity and more citrus flavor to this Mermaid Punch with fresh lime juice.
  • Crushed Ice – Serve the cocktail over ice. Crushed ice is best because it gives the drink an almost slushy consistency. It also helps dilute this incredibly sweet cocktail.
  • Lime Slices – Garnish this perfect summer cocktail with a few lime wheels.

This Cocktail Pairs Well With:

This sweet pineapple juice cocktail pairs well with spicy dishes. The pineapple and coconut flavors cut the spiciness. The tropical flavors also pair well with seafood dishes, like jerk shrimp.

How to Make a Mermaid Water Cocktail

This Mermaid Cocktail is the perfect drink for a hot summer day! It is a delicious combination of sweet, tropical, and fruit flavors. Plus, the beautiful color makes it fun!

Step One – Create this cocktail directly in the glass! Fill a hurricane glass or large stemless wine glass about three-quarters full with crushed or pebble ice.

Step Two – Next, pour 6 ounces of pineapple juice into the glass. Then, add spiced rum, coconut rum, blue curacao, and lime juice to the glass as well.

Step Three – Stir the lush cocktail with a straw or cocktail stirrer to combine. The drink will turn a beautiful blue-green as you stir.

Step Four – Garnish the Mermaid Water cocktail with lime slices. Add lime wheels into the drink itself and place one on the rim of the glass. Pineapple chunks or Maraschino cherries are excellent garnishes for this cocktail as well.

Can I Make a Large Batch of Mermaid Water?

Yes! Mermaid Water is an excellent cocktail to make in bulk! It is technically a rum punch, so it’s perfect for large gatherings. Multiply the ingredients by the number of guests you wish to serve. Then mix all of the ingredients, without ice, in a large pitcher. Keep the pitcher in the refrigerator until it’s time to serve drinks. Then guests may serve themselves from the pitcher.

Make It a Mocktail!

Whether you’re looking for an alcohol-free alternative for yourself or a fun drink for the kids, Mermaid Water is easy to convert to a mocktail! Just make the following substitutions:

  • Swap the Coconut Rum for Coconut Water and add a splash of ginger ale instead of spiced rum.
  • Use blue food coloring or blue edible glitter to achieve the ocean blue water appearance.
  • You could also substitute orange juice for the orange flavors of blue curacao. Or use an ounce of bottled triple-sec syrup instead.

This Mermaid Water drink is a fun summer cocktail! It’s one of my favorite fruity drinks! This cocktail recipe is perfect for birthday parties, summer barbeques, or a mermaid-themed pool party!
