These delicious loaded buffalo ranch fries with cheese are the perfect appetizer for game day! They are flavorful, cheesy, and a tad spicy.
Make buffalo ranch fries at home using an air fryer, or oven, for a simple but delicious appetizer that tastes like it came from your favorite sports bar. These fries are topped with spicy buffalo sauce, creamy ranch dressing, sharp cheddar cheese, and goat cheese crumbles. It’s a cheesy, tangy, and spicy snack. They are perfect for game day, a cookout side dish, or movie night!

Ingredients for Buffalo Ranch Fries
- Frozen French Fries – Use regular cut or shoestring fries for this appetizer. They are the best option because they are crispy and crunchy. And they hold the perfect amount of sauce and cheese. You can make homemade french fries if you wish, but I like to keep it quick and easy.
- Cheddar Cheese – Freshly grated sharp cheddar is best for this recipe. It melts more evenly than pre-shredded cheese.
- Buffalo Sauce – Use your favorite buffalo or wing sauce on these amazing fries. My personal favorite is Frank’s Red Hot Original Buffalo Sauce. I use it on my buffalo chicken dip!
- Ranch Dressing – A bottle of your favorite Ranch dressing, or homemade ranch dressing, is perfect for drizzling over the fries. Sub for blue cheese dressing if you prefer.
- Goat Cheese (or Blue Cheese) – Goat cheese adds an extra tangy flavor to this delicious appetizer. If you like blue cheese with wings, then use that instead. (I’m not a blue cheese fan so I don’t use it!)
- Green Onion – Sprinkle a little freshly chopped green onions over the top of the fries. They add a little extra flavor, crunch, and fresh taste to your fries.

How to Make Buffalo Ranch Fries in the Air Fryer
These loaded fries are simple to make and taste amazing. All you need is an air fryer or oven! I personally prefer the air fryer because the fries turn out crispier.
Step 1 – Line your air fryer drawer with a parchment liner for easy cleanup. If you have an oven air fryer, spray the basket with a bit of cooking spray.
Step 2 – Add the fries to the basket. Arrange them in an even layer for cooking. Air fry for 10-12 minutes at 400 degrees.

Step 3 – Remove the crispy french fries and immediately cover them in cheddar cheese. The heat from the fresh fries should melt all of the cheese. If it doesn’t add them back to the air fryer for 2-3 minutes.

Step 4 – Place the melty cheese fries in a bowl or large plate. Drizzle them with buffalo sauce. Then add a drizzle of Ranch dressing. Crumble goat cheese or blue cheese on top.
Step 5 – Sprinkle diced green onion over the top of the fries.

Step 6 – Serve them hot! Use your fingers to eat the fries like nachos. Or use a fork for less mess and bites full of flavor.
Make Them in the Oven
If you don’t have an air fryer you can still make this buffalo cheese fries recipe! Arrange the frozen fries in a single layer on a large baking sheet. Follow the oven cooking instructions on your bag of frozen fries.
Once the fries are a lovely golden brown, top them with cheddar cheese. Then place the pan back in the oven for 3-5 minutes. Follow steps 4 and 5 above to finish cooking this appetizer.
