Getting Ready to Party – We’ve Got the Power: DIY Power Washing

Paying to have your house power washed when you’re on a tight budget can be a lot. Try renting a power washer and DIY power washing!

We spent this entire weekend working our butts off getting the house ready for the party. I planted some new flowers in the front yard, dug up a few other plants and moved them elsewhere, painted the front porch and got started on removing the monkey grass in the backyard. To say that I am incredibly tired and sore would be the understatement of the year. But boy does it feel good to have things marked off my list!ย ready to host a party2Our sweet neighbor lent us his power washer, which saved us over $100 in rental fees or paying for a service! DIY power washing is definitely the way to go! Jesse worked on that all weekend last weekend while I went with my mom to buy a few things for the party, including invitation supplies, more on those next week.power-washing It’s AMAZING how clean you can get your house by just spraying it with high-powered water! It also embarrasses the crap out of me how dirty our house actually was.power-washing-comparison Our concrete patio was even more embarrassing than the vinyl siding. Yuck!power-washing-differences Now that everything is all clean it’s time to make it pretty! This weekend was my turn to work my butt off in the yard. I spent 5+ hours in the yard this weekend planting flowers, moving some stones around that didn’t make sense, and pulling up monkey grass. Death to all monkey grass everywhere! But more updates on all of that next week! yard-working

How was your weekend? Did anyone celebrate Cinco de Mayo? We went out with some of our friends to our fave Mexican restaurant and drank Dos Equis and tequila.

It looks like you two were busy! Joe and I were the opposite and just enjoyed the nice weather (although I did finish a project I’ve had in the works for a few weeks!).

  2. Wow! You really got some stuff done this weekend!! I did a bit of vegetable garden planning, some spray painting and just some lounging in the sun- it was gorgeous here all weekend!

    • I tried to talk Jesse into a garden this year, but I think we’re just going to do an herb garden this year. I’m still excited for that though!

  3. Sounds like you guys made tons of progress! & so awesome of your neighbor to let you borrow their power washer!

  4. nicely done, guys! it sounds like everything is looking awesome! we’re just about to start understanding the “working our butts off” in the yard sentiment….

  5. Awesome! We borrowed my dads powerwasher a week ago and to my shame it is still sitting in the garage! I really want to do it – but it is definitely one of those things that I cant do without Matt home. Haha I figure SOMEONE should probably be playing with our children.

    You are making awesome progress!

  7. Sounds like you got tons done! We power washed our house and deck last summer. I couldn’t believe the difference it made. Monkey grass?! I have never heard of that!
We went to a baseball game and to a Mexican restaurant for Cinco de Mayo. It’s also my husband’s birthday so that’s always fun.

  12. Isn’t it amazing how a party can be SO motivating? My friends always tell me the house is so clean and organized at a party (and on the blog), but I just tell them I try to take the blog pics right *before* the party:)

How nice that they loaned you the washer! What a difference that makes. My brother has one, and we are all set to borrow it soon.
We started doing some yard work this weekend also. It’s nice to finally get outside!

  15. Ugh! We just pretend that the outside of our house isn’t pink and dirty. LOL Good for you for tackling it, now go get a massage. ๐Ÿ™‚
