Easter Rice Krispies Treats Ingredients

  • Rice Krispies Cereal – You can’t have Rice Krispies Treats without a crispy rice cereal. But you don’t have to use the brand name, any crispy rice cereal works great!
  • Marshmallows – Use larger or mini marshmallows and melt them in a pan with butter to create a gooey marshmallow sauce.
  • Pastel M&M’s – Fun pastel M&M’s are available at most Targets and Wal-Marts during the Easter season.
  • Festive Sprinkles – In addition to Easter candy, Target and Walmart also carry holiday-specific sprinkles. If you can’t find Easter sprinkles use multicolored pastel sprinkles instead.
  • Melted White Chocolate – These fun Easter Rice Krispies Treats have a colorful white chocolate drizzle that is delicious and pretty. Use white candy melts or almond bark for the best results.
  • Gel Food Coloring – Use gel food coloring to dye the melted white chocolate several shades of fun pastel colors. I used pink, purple, and green food coloring for my Easter treats. Be sure to use gel food coloring because liquid food coloring will ruin the consistency of the chocolate.

How to Make Easter Rice Krispies Treats

This recipe turns traditional Rice Krispie Treats into the perfect Easter dessert! These cute treats are colorful, festive and yummy!

You can make Rice Krispie treats in the microwave or on the stove. I prefer the stove because the hot pan and burner help the melted marshmallows stay warm. This makes it easier to stir the treats so the cereal is evenly coated in melted marshmallow sauce.

Step 1 – In a large pot, melt 2 tablespoons of butter on medium-low heat. Add the marshmallows to the melted butter and stir. Regularly stir the mixture until the marshmallows are completely melted.

Step 2 – Next, add the Rice Krispies cereal to the melted marshmallow mixture. Stir this until all of the cereal is coated in melted marshmallows.

Line Your Pan for Easy Cutting

Step 3 – Lightly spray an 9 x 13 inch pan with nonstick spray. I like to use coconut oil, but whatever you prefer is fine. Then, cut two pieces of parchment paper into 10 x 13 inch strips. Lay one piece of parchment paper inside the baking pan horizontally. Then lay the other vertically. The parchment paper should form a cross shape and cover all four sides of the pan.

Step 4 – Pour the warm marshmallow and cereal mixture into the lined baking pan. Then use a flat silicone spatula to press the mixture into an even layer along the bottom of the pan.

Step 5 – Using the microwave, or a double boiler on the stove, melt the white chocolate to create your colorful drizzle. Low and slow is best for melting candy so it doesn’t seize and turn hard and grainy.

Step 6 – Pour the melted white chocolate into 3 different bowls. Add a drop of gel food coloring to each bowl. I used pink, purple, and green for my colors. Be sure to use gel food coloring because liquid food coloring will ruin the consistency of the chocolate. Use a small drop of food coloring to ensure the color is pastel.

Step 7 – Drizzle the pastel chocolate sauces over the Easter Rice Krispies treats one color at a time.

Step 8 – Sprinkle pastel M&M’s and Easter sprinkles over the top of the treats. Feel free to add other Easter-themed candies as well.

Step 9 – Let the Rice Krispies Treats cool for at least an hour before cutting them into squares and serving.
