What is Dragon Fruit Lemonade?
If you’re a fan of Starbucks, then you’ve probably seen the vibrant pink Dragonfruit Refreshers on the menu. One of those drinks is a Mango Dragonfruit Lemonade. It’s delicious, refreshing, and gorgeous.
Dragon fruit, also called pitaya, is a tropical fruit with pink or white flesh on the inside and black seeds. Frozen dragon fruit is a vibrant pink color. It tastes like a mix between a kiwi and a pear. It’s delicious with other sweet fruits, like mango or strawberry in drinks or smoothies. It’s also easy to find at the grocery store.
Dragon fruit and lemonade pair well together because lemonade is also sweet. Plus, it’s a tad sour. And absolutely refreshing in the summer!
Ingredients for This Dragon Fruit Lemonade Cocktail
This is a simple recipe that only requires three ingredients.
- Vodka – Vodka is the ideal spirit for this cocktail because of its subtle flavor. It takes on the other flavors of the cocktail and you hardly notice it’s there.
- Dragon Fruit Syrup – This syrup is created using dragon fruit, sugar, and water. It adds additional sweetness and dragon fruit flavor to the cocktail.
- Lemonade – Keep things simple with a bottled lemonade or make your own. I prefer Simply Lemonade, but any brand works.
Make Your Own Dragon Fruit Syrup
Simple syrup is a common ingredient for adding sweetness to cocktails. Flavored syrups add both sweetness and additional flavor. It’s easy to make your own flavored syrup at home. To make dragon fruit syrup all you need is frozen dragon fruit, water, and sugar.
First, combine 1 cup of water, 1 cup of sugar, and 1 cup of frozen dragon fruit in a small saucepan. Then, heat the saucepan on medium heat and bring to a simmer. Allow it to simmer for about 20 minutes. Be sure to stir it every few minutes.
The liquid should be bright pink. What is left of the fruit itself will be very squishy. Strain the syrup using a mesh strainer. You may need to strain it more than once to catch all of the seeds!
Allow the syrup to cool in the refrigerator. Then transfer to a bottle for easy pouring. Homemade fruit syrup lasts about 2 weeks in the refrigerator!
How to Make a Dragon Fruit Lemonade Cocktail
This pitaya cocktail is a simple recipe that is delicious. And it’s a beautiful bright pink color!
Step 1 – Fill a highball glass three-quarters full with ice. Add vodka, dragon fruit syrup, and lemonade to the glass.
Step 2 – Stir to combine and garnish with a slice of lemon or fresh dragon fruit. That’s it!
Make it a Mocktail
If you don’t drink alcohol or want to make this pink drink for your kids, make it a mocktail! All you have to do is skip the vodka. Since vodka doesn’t have a bold flavor, it doesn’t subtract from the drink if you leave it out.
Add A Little Sparkle!
Make this cocktail or mocktail even more fun with a bit of edible glitter! I used Fancy Sprinkles’ Moonstone Iridescent Edible Glitter for this pink lemonade cocktail. It adds a little bit of sparkle to an already colorful cocktail. Use code 15ASHLEY for 15% off your purchase of Fancy Sprinkles. (I earn a 10% commission from your purchases!)
Can I Make This Lemonade Cocktail in Advance?
Yes! This refreshing drink is great for making in advance! Combine all of the ingredients, without ice, and store in an airtight jar or glass bottle until it is time to serve. You may store this cocktail in the refrigerator for up to a week.

Since this delicious cocktail stores so well, it’s also great for making in bulk. Multiply the ingredients by the number of guests you wish to serve. Then mix all of the ingredients, without ice, in a large pitcher. Store the pitcher in the refrigerator until it’s time to serve!
