What to Do, What to Do

As I’m sure many of you have heard the ladies over at Bower Power and Young House Love have announced another Pinterest Challenge! I’m really excited about this one because Cassie from Hi Sugarplum is also hosting with them! :)

I love participating in the Pinterest Challenge because it motivates me to get off my butt and actually make some of the things that I pin. (see my past project here) It also gives me the chance to find some new blogs and pin even more pins! ;) Usually I know just what I want to make but this year, with all the moving in mania and unpacking, I have NO idea. There are so many awesome things I wanted to make for the house eventually, but nothing right away. I have narrowed it down to 4 choices though.

#1. A No-Sew Roman Shade (actually the sewing part doesn’t matter to me after I conquered this challenge) but I still would like to get a Roman shade (or 3) made for our kitchen.

#2. Some modern, geometric type art for our living room. I pinned this from Our Humble Abode not too long ago.

#3. This one is an easy one, but if this weekend gets to chaotic it’s a good fall back. It’s simply dipping Popsicle sticks into the paint colors from our house and putting them on a key ring. I will definitely be doing this no matter what because it’ll be really helpful for picking out curtains and other accessories for the house.

#4. My front door needs a new wreath and I’ve had my eye on making a burlap wreath for awhile.

You’ll have to wait until Wednesday to find out what I make, but I’m so excited for which ever one I choose! :)

Are you going to be taking part in the Pinterest Challenge this week? Any idea what you’ll make?

**Psst. I also ask that you send positive thoughts and prayers Jesse’s way this weekend. His family has to make the terrible decision of putting his childhood dog, Lady, to sleep on Saturday. She is 16 years old and in constant pain and can’t control her bodily functions, but it’s still a tough thing to do.**

  1. All of those projects look wonderful and I can’t wait to see what you choose :)

I’m so sorry that Jesse’s family has to put down Lady. We had to put one of my family’s cats down this past September and it broke my heart. Making that decision is always a difficult one, but in the end, it’s nice to know they’re not suffering anymore. xoxo

  2. Great choices for projects! I especially love that burlap wreath.

I’m so, so sorry to hear about Lady. Dallas and I both had to put our doggies down last year and it hurts not matter what the circumstances are. Praying for you guys today.

  3. Love the looks of all those projects! I’ll be excited to check in Wednesday to see what you come up with!

Sooo sorry to hear about Lady. Shayne and I had to put our almost 4 year old dog down due to illness and it broke my heart. I still cry when thinking about it. Hoping for the best for Jesse and family this weekend. It does help to know they aren’t suffering anymore.

  4. I’m so sorry to hear about Lady. My Mother-in-law just had to put down my husband’s childhood dog last night. We got the call at 11pm that he was gone. Homer, was a 15 yr old Basset Hound and also was having trouble controlling his bodily functions. To make it worse he was no longer able to walk because he had some kind of issue in his back and hind legs, so he couldn’t support his weight anymore. He was taken to the emergency vet last night because he had breathing trouble and after some tests they found he had kidney failure.

Have you ever heard of the Rainbow Bridge. Supposedly dogs never go to Heaven alone. They travel in groups over the Rainbow Bridge to Heaven. So maybe Homer will be waiting for Lady and they can go together.

  5. I think you should give the burlap wreath a try. I haven’t seen one like it yet. ML is outside working on our project for the Pinterest. Challenge/ anniversary gift. I have the rest of the weekend to finish it. Let’s hope it goes well.
I will keep Jesse and his family in my prayers. There is nothing like losing your childhood companion.

  6. I don’t know if I’ll be participating (still trying to figure out what I would do), but it’s always fun to see what others do!

And I’m so sorry about Lady. :( Putting down a pet is so hard even if it’s the best thing for them; they truly are a part of the family.

  7. Oh, so sorry to hear about Lady. Losing a family pet is never easy :(
On a lighter note, you picked some great projects for the challenge. I’m personally excited to see how the roman shade comes out. I’m always on the lookout for a good no sew roman shade tutorial.

  8. I’m so sorry to hear about Lady. That’s a difficult position to be in. I dread the day we have to make those sorts of decisions for our pup. Thankfully he isn’t yet 3 so that should be a very long time from now.

As far as the pinterest challenge goes – well, I could use it as motivation to finally get my puffy paint vase finished? Or get my second fauxman shade complete….or I could ditch both of those projects and start another one. Hmmm.

  9. Can’t wait to see what you do! I’m intrigued by the burlap wreath. I think I’m going to be making a spring wreath for our front door since I still have up the one for made for Christmas! I’ve never cared for wreaths much before, but now that I have my very own front door, they are much more appealing! :)

  10. Poor Lady :( I’m so sorry to hear that.

I too will be taking part in the Pinterest Challenge! I never have before :) Hope you do the roman shade project!! I need to make some roman shades eventually and would love to see how yours turn out.

  11. I’m so sorry to hear about Lady, Forrest’s family had to put down their family dog this summer and it was a difficult decision even though it was the right one. We are sending a prayer your way! Good luck with the Pinterest challenge, I like the Roman shades!

  12. I’m so sorry about Lady, I can’t imagine how hard it must be to make that decision.

Can’t wait to see your project! I’ve been interested in the no-sew roman shade tutorial, so I’m kinda pulling for that. But all of them look great!

  13. My thoughts are definitely with Jesse and his family. It is so much harder to watch our dogs grow old than I ever thought it would be. I dread the day. :*(

I love your ideas…can’t wait to see what you do. That paint idea is perfect for you right now!
    karah

  14. Awww, sorry to hear about Lady :-( Our pets are such a huge part of our lives, it’s so hard tosay goodbye. But the kindest thing we can do for them to let them go when the time comes.

I found a project on Pinterest a little while ago that I’m definitely doing. I have most of the stuff I need to make it, just need a push to get it done – and the Pinterest Challenge is that push! Hmmmm… although the gallery wall I posted today way inspired by some of my pins, so maybe I’ll link that project up :-)

I love the geometric art. Hope you’ll be doing that project :-) The paint sticks are a good project too. Have fun doing whichever one you choose!

  15. I’m working on a project too! I hope I have it finished before wednesday:). I’ve also been wanting to make a no sew roman shade for our laundry room – just haven’t squeezed the time in yet. I love the paint color popsicle stick idea! That is really smart.

  16. OMG! I do not know how I missed the comment about Lady…I’m SO sorry to hear that. It’s such a tough thing to go through. I went through that with my hubby and his family a couple years ago when they had to decide to put his 14 year old lab down. My thoughts and prayers with you guys and Jesse’s family!!
