They’re at it again! The ladies at It all started with paint, the space between, Thistlewood Farm, The Cottage Market and Eclectically Vintage have set up another challenge! Well, technically it’s a series of challenges to last us until 2013! Each challenge has a different theme and I’m so excited!
I’ll hopefully by linking up to all of them, starting with It’s a Cinch! I came up with a really easy project, that is going to be super helpful for my future decorating needs! It was inspired by this post on Pinterest (originally from here):
Basically, you dip paint sticks (I used craft sticks) into the paint that you used to paint rooms in your house. So far I have used 4 colors in our house, so I only needed to dip 4 sticks.
I tried to wipe off drips as best I could so they wouldn’t be apparent when the paint dried. I let the sticks dry for several days, but that’s just because I got really distracted.

When my sticks were good and dry, Jesse took them out to the garage and drilled a small hole into the ends of each stick.
For now I just threaded some string through the holes and tied the sticks to a key ring, but I’m planning to attach them to a lanyard along with some fabric samples from each room. I’m hoping having this all together will help me when I go shopping or to yard sales, so I know what will look good in each room and what wont.
This super easy and very useful project was A Cinch!
Easy peasy! I like your idea of putting the fabric on the lanyard as well! Now I need to look at my list and figure out what I’m going to get done!
It looks great! I love that idea!
Very cool – I need to remember to do this when I get a house. I really love that green and the purple.
I love the colors you are using for your house. I should go back and make paint sticks for mine but I am not sure I still have all the colors. This will be really helpful for you when selecting fabrics and furniture for all your rooms.
Love it! Glad you did it. It’s such a good idea and I know for sure something like that would help me out immensely. Maybe I should think about making one myself. I’d start by repainting all of the walls
Why didn’t I think of that? This would have come in handy many many times while out shopping.
great idea! that will DEFINITELY be helpful when going shopping & such! i’ll have to keep that in mind for future use, myself.
This is such a great idea! Every couple years in my old house I would kick myself trying to figure out what paints went where. Ingenious!
So cute and helpful! Way better than my random paint cards thrown in my purse lol.
Great idea! This linky party thing sounds interesting too!
This is such a good idea – I really need to do it!
what a great idea!! i will have to remember to dip one of these popcicle sticks each time we choose a color! i love the idea of adding fabric to it as well!
Such a great idea!!! Too bad all of my house paint has dried up!
Great idea! I will have to decide which item on my to-do list is easiest and get it done in time for the link party. I’m totally going to start dipping sticks though. Paint chips just aren’t the same.
LOVE it! The perfect way to keep your colors on hand. Thanks so much for the shout out, happy you’ll be linked up Tuesday! Did you get your Pass it On package yet?!? Stacey from A Sort of Fairytale posted about it today…so fun to seeing it all being passed on.
Fun to see this project since we did something similar for the “cinch” party! Love your version too!
Love it … and as I’m looking at your paint sticks and thinking that purple looks familiar. Very close to a color in my daughter’s room. And the green. I’m thinking about my dining room …
Thanks for linking it up!

Aren’t you one smart cookie??!
First of all – love your color choices!!
And what a fabulous idea!! Wish I would have done this when I painted every single room in my house! Would have made life so much simpler.
Pinning this fabulous idea!
So glad you joined our Cinch party.

What a great idea! I’m definitely doing this once I start painting in my house!
